University of Lodz increases number of students in majors with English as the language of instruction

As of 2019, the number of students at the University of Lodz (UŁ) in faculties and specialisations with English as the language of instruction has increased by 48 %. There are now as many as 1,148 students studying in English at the UŁ. More than 70 % of them come from abroad.

UŁ is one of the leaders among universities in Poland in the area of internationalisation. According to a report by the Central Statistical Office, in 2020 and 2021 it ranked third in terms of the number of foreign students, preceded only by Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw.

The most numerous in the 813-strong community of foreign students on English-language courses are citizens of: Azerbaijan – 194 students, Ukraine – 144 , Uzbekistan – 140, Turkey – 55 and Kazakhstan – 22.

In the 2023/2024 academic year, the University of Lodz offers 14 courses taught in English.
