From 5 to 7 July 2023, the Faculty of Philology at the University of Lodz will host Borders and Crossings 2023, which is part of a long-running series of international conferences dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of travel writing.

The Borders and Crossings conference series was first organised in Derry in 1998 by Glenn Hooper and Tim Youngs and has been held regularly ever since. 

Borders and Crossings has played a major role in the development of travel literature studies, as it provides a forum for scholars from different disciplines and national contexts. Researchers meet regularly to explore the growing body of travel texts from around the world from different periods and debate its relevance to the arts, humanities and social sciences.
