The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (UMK) plans to deepen the cooperation with Beijing’s International Studies University (BISU). The authorities of both universities talked about extending the student exchange agreement signed in March 2018.
The plans include increasing the number of Polish language teachers on BISU and Chinese studying in Toruń. Currently, 38 people from BISU are studying at the Studium of Polish Language and Language for Foreigners at the Faculty of Philology. They are students of Polish philology, which is a prestigious field at the Beijing University.
There are talks about the inviting another 20 students for the full cycle of studies next year. The Chinese side is interested in a new field of study at the Faculty of Philology – Polish philology as a foreign language. Chinese students, after their graduation, could study in other Polish-language majors. The plan also includes the promotion of UMK in Beijing secondary schools.
