University of Warmia and Mazury to change in the year 2020

07.01.2020

The University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn began the new 2020 year with many changes. It created a new Faculty of Geoengineering and transformed the Faculty of Health Sciences into the School of Public Health.

From January 1, 2020, the Faculty of Geoengineering at UWM in Olsztyn consists of two previously functioning independently scientific units: Faculty of Geodesy, Spatial Engineering and Construction, and Faculty of Environmental Sciences. The combination is the effect of reducing the number of scientific disciplines. The new faculty will conduct research and classes in three disciplines: socio-economic geography and spatial management, civil engineering and transport as well as environmental engineering, mining and energy.

The past year brought the implementation of several large investments for the university in Olsztyn, which will be commissioned this year. The renovation of the athletics stadium has been completed and its official opening is planned for spring. The Kortowski park has been restored. The construction of the “Kortosfera” Science Popularization Center has also begun and will be completed in May.
