The first two places in this year’s Rotman European Trading Competition (RETC) were won by teams of students from the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw (UW), reports UW.
The RETC is the European equivalent of the prestigious Rotman International Trading Competition (RITC), where students apply their advanced knowledge of mathematics, finance or programming. This year’s competition was organised by Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome.
The competition involved simulated trading of financial instruments with tasks focusing on commodity trading, pricing and trading of coupon bonds and algorithmic trading. Students used their knowledge of theory, programming skills, teamwork and ability to perform under stress.
The winning teams from the Faculty of Economics (WNE) at the UW were prepared for the competition by Dr Robert Ślepaczuk, head of the WNE Department of Quantitative Finance.
