University of Warsaw presented 5 priority research areas

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin, as well as Anna Budzanowska, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, met with the authorities of the University of Warsaw (UW), who won the “Initiative of Excellence – Research University” competition.

During the meeting, the UW presented development plans for 5 priority research areas, which will be implemented within the competition. They include:

– Research for Earth – an integrated multidisciplinary approach to identifying threats to the environment, biodiversity, climate and health, and searching for implementable solutions,

– At the heart of the micro and macro world – searching for breakthrough innovations for the future: materials, energy sources and technologies ensuring sustainable development,

– Petabytes challenge – advanced mathematics and computer science tools in analyzing large data sets – from random processes on the stock exchange to medical diagnostics,

– Expanding the borders of the humanities – humanities research crossing discipline boundaries, developing innovative tools and models, expanding understanding of the mind, language and culture,

– In search of regional solutions for global challenges – multidisciplinary teams examining the consequences of increasing mobility, multidimensional inequalities and digital transformation.
