Volunteers from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw (UW) as part of the “Materials for medics” campaign have already printed over 5,000 protective helmets that have been received so far by over 100 medical institutions.
Volunteers from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw including employees, students and doctoral students have been producing protective helmets, which are a crucial equipment of medical services having direct contact with people infected with coronavirus, as part of the campaign “Materials for medics”.
Helmets are created using 3D printing technology. The printed helmet bands are attached to protective shutters made of plastic, cut out on a laser plotter. The volunteers, as part of the campaign have produced over 5,000 pieces of these protective measures. The items were provided free of charge to over 100 medical facilities and other institutions in Poland.
