Rector of the University of Warsaw Prof. Marcin Pałys issued an ordinance to create four doctoral schools Doctoral School of Humanities, the Doctoral School of Social Sciences, the Doctoral School of Science and Natural Sciences, and the Doctoral Interdepartment School at the University of Warsaw.

At the same time, the rector appointed the new schools directors.

The creation of schools and the appointment of their directors resulted from the resolution adopted by the Senate of the University of Warsaw on April 17, 2019 regarding the “Framework principles for the organization of doctoral schools at the University of Warsaw”. The document describes the tasks and manner of appointing the school head and board. The rules of cooperation between the school and the councils of scientific disciplines, the council of scientific disciplines as well as the authorities of the units under which PhD students will conduct their research have been also regulated.
