From 11 to 16 September 2022, the 16th International Numismatic Congress will be held at the University of Warsaw (UW).

The congress is held every six years and is an opportunity for numismatists, archaeologists, historians, museum professionals and representatives of auction houses from all over the world to come together.

The online part of this biggest celebration of world numismatics will be attended by 850 participants from six continents and almost 50 countries. Proceedings will take place simultaneously in seven major halls of the UW, with a total of more than 100 sessions and panel discussions.

The topics include all areas of numismatics from antiquity to modern times, coins, medals, paper money or tokens. “Many of the sessions will deal with the application of modern technology in numismatic research, as well as digital numismatics, perhaps the most developed of the humanities”, said Professor Aleksander Bursche, head of the Department of Numismatics and Museum Studies of the Faculty of Archaeology of the UW and chair of the Congress organising committee.
