On November 16, 2021, the Old Library of the University of Warsaw is holding the first meeting in the series of “8 lectures for the New Millennium”, which will be held after an almost eighteen-year break.  Marian Turski, a journalist, historian, former prisoner of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, will try to answer the questionWhere does evil come from?”.

-The eleventh commandment says: don’t be indifferent. Because if you are, any time some Auschwitz may suddenly fall from heaven to you or your descendants -said Marian Turski in 2020 during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. He is considered by many an authority, monumental and historical figure thanks to his attitude and activity.

Marian Turski is a journalist, historian and social activist. He was the editor-in-chief of “Sztandar Młodych”. He has been working for the weekly journal Polityka for over 60 years. He survived two death marches. Marian Turski is the chairman of the Council of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. He is a member of the Presidium of the International Auschwitz Committee.
