A new research institute CASUS (Center for Advanced Systems Understanding) has started operating in Goerlitz, Germany. Its researchers will model complex systems using artificial intelligence. The University of Wrocław is one of the partners of the institute.
– The Institute will be involved in the study, and more specifically in modeling of complex systems, i.e. metasystems. Interdisciplinary research will cover many areas of science, and the common feature is the use of similar tools: mathematics, computer science, artificial intelligence and large data sets – says Leszek Pacholski from the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Wrocław.
The Institute’s partners are University of Wrocław, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, the Center for Environmental Research Helmholtz, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology, Genetics and Technische Universität Dresden / Center for Information Services and High Power Computing.
