University of Wrocław to investigate the role of smell in child development

Dr Anna Oleszkiewicz, Professor at the University of Wrocław from the Department of Experimental Social Psychology will carry out the project ‘Development of olfactory abilities and cognitive and emotional development of pre-school children – a longitudinal study’. The money for the project (almost PLN 1.3 million) is provided by a grant from the National Science Centre.

In her scientific work, the laureate studies the determinants of olfactory abilities and the possibilities of olfactory rehabilitation. As part of the funding she will verify the assumption that the olfactory development of pre-school children is linked to their cognitive and emotional development. 

Prof. Oleszkiewicz is also the recipient of a START grant from the Foundation for Polish Science, a scholarship for outstanding young scientists, an award from the German Otorhinolaryngology Society and the 30 Creative Wroclaw award. She is the author of nearly 100 scientific articles of international scope.
