Sixth-year medical students at the University of Zielona Góra’s Medical College have already had their first clinical classes in neurosurgery in Poland’s only ultramodern seminar room.

It was equipped with unique equipment that allowed students to observe “live” the work of neurosurgeons during a very complicated operation to remove a tumour from the spine. During the operation, thanks to 3D glasses, the students are able to view the neurosurgeon’s operating microscope at all times, and – using an audio system – can immediately ask questions of the operating doctor, who explains the course of the operation in real time.

The creation and equipment of this room was made possible thanks to financial support from the University of Zielona Góra, while the purchase of a super-modern operating microscope enabling such complex neurosurgical operations was financed by the local government of the Lubuskie Voivodeship.
