Unmanned aircraft constructed by students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology will take part in two competitions in the USA – in Florida and Texas. The aircraft will compete in the Advanced and Micro categories. Their wingspan is 3.35 m and 1.3 m, respectively.
Airplanes take part in the Advanced class, which must lift the heaviest static load possible, locate a point on the ground and drop as much as 1 kg of cargo from a height of 30 m. Tracking is done using a camera and transmitters that send real-time image and flight telemetry data to a ground control station.
In the Micro class, planes must lift the heaviest load possible, cover a certain distance with it, and land safely. It is a competition for small aircraft, and during the competition students have only 1.5 minutes to remove them from the container, assemble and prepare for flight. Take-off of the plane is made from a hand.
