A total of 22 theses participated in the contest for the best master’s thesis in competition and consumer protection, organised by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK). Thirteen dissertations concerned antitrust law – restrictive agreements and concentration control, nine covered consumer issues such as consumer rights, consumer protection on the financial market or abusive clauses.
In the category of ‘Master’s thesis – competition’, the first prize was won by Łucja Olszewska, a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw (WPiA UW) for her thesis “Pursuing claims for damages for infringement of competition law in the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union”.
In the category ‘Master’s thesis – consumers’, the first prize was awarded to Jakub Jasiński, also a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw (WPiA UW), for his thesis ‘Consumer right of withdrawal’. “The consumer’s right to withdraw from a credit agreement in light of the principle of contractual balance between the parties in European Union law”.
