The Upper Silesian Academy in Katowice is inviting participants to the “Neurodiverse” conference on 21 and 22 April, dedicated to the education of children on the autism spectrum. According to estimates, there are approximately 30,000 people in Poland struggling with the difficulties caused by autism (including 20,000 children). April is the month in which awareness of the disorder is spread.

Established by the UN, World Autism Awareness Day kicks off a period of campaigns, social actions, blue marches, meetings and conferences on 2 April. The Upper Silesian Academy has been involved in these activities for years. This year’s conference will focus on the educational process for children on the autism spectrum.

Among the topics of the conference are: working with the child’s family as an important aspect of a therapist’s work; social skills training; a student with autism spectrum disorders in a mainstream school; developing social skills in young children through play; and providing appropriate and effective learning conditions.
