Urban Studies is a new interdisciplinary MA major, which will start at the University of Rzeszów (UR) from the next academic year.
“The 21st century will undoubtedly be the century of cities. All analyses indicate that, by 2050, 80% of the human population will live in cities. We face the great challenge of making our cities good places to live. Working to improve quality in line with what people expect. This is the most important task for the future, for which we will also need human resources. We will need people who are competent to do this”, says Konrad Fijołek, Mayor of the City of Rzeszów.
The study programme was developed as a result of consultations between academics, practitioners, local government officials, representatives of non-governmental organisations and urban movements.
The programme was created on the basis of the experience of foreign centres that educate in urban studies, with the aim of creating a modern, innovative educational programme that meets the needs and challenges of the 21st century.
