The Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow has opened registration for the VII Krakow Dictation, which will take place on 9 March 2024 at the Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University. This is the next event where amateurs of the native language can test themselves. The event is being held as part of the Month of the Mother Tongue.

The VII Krakow Dictation will consist of two categories: “open” (for people over 15 years of age) and “junior” (for children and young people under 15 years of age). The winner of the “open” category will receive the title of Krakow Spelling Champion and attractive prizes.

Traditionally, the text of the dictation for both young and professional spelling masters will be written by Dr Mirosława Mycawka from the Department of Modern Polish Language at Jagiellonian University.

The dictation is the main event of the Mother Language Month, taking place from 21 February to 21 March 2024, organised by the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University.
