Warsaw and Białystok physicists to study magnetic nanostructures

01.03.2021

Magnetic nanostructures with unprecedented properties will be created and then studied by physicists of the University of Białystok (UW) and the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in Warsaw.

The consortium obtained funding for its research project under the OPUS-19 competition organized by the National Science Center. The value of the project is nearly PLN 2.4 million. Over 1.2 million will be received by University of Bialystok.

The project will be carried out by a research team of a dozen people consisting of physicists experienced in the production and research of nanostructures. It is also planned to employ two PhD students for four years – for Białystok and Warsaw parts of the consortium.

Within the project physicists will design and then create atomic precision magnetic nanostructures – systems composed of many component layers, each of which is made up of only a few atomic layers.
