The Warsaw company Scope Fluidics, co-created by one of the winners of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), Prof. Piotr Garstecki, received an EIC Accelerator grant of EUR 1.9 million for further research on the innovative BacterOMIC system that will allow faster and cheaper diagnostics of bacterial infections. BacterOMIC was also included in the group of seven most groundbreaking diagnostic products in the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) competition.
The prestigious EIC Accelerator grant, awarded by the European Commission, serves to support small and medium-sized enterprises, with high innovation potential to develop and market new products, services and business models that can fuel economic growth.
AACC is the largest organization in the world gathering specialists in medical diagnostics and publisher of Clinical Chemistry – the most important scientific periodical in this field. Solutions of the Polish startup Scope Fluidics, whose co-founder and president is Prof. Piotr Garstecki, were awarded in the competition of Disruptive Technology Awards 2019 and presented in the Innovation Zone during the August AACC fair in California.
