Socio-economic changes resulting from the development of information societies and the observed and anticipated effects of information civilisation will be the main topics of a scientific conference of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) to be held on 18 November 2022 at the Staszic Palace in Warsaw.
“Highly developed countries are slowly entering the era of information civilisation, which recognises the role of information as a factor that determines development more strongly than material goods.
Speakers will discuss the possible directions of technology development and its impact on societies, the pitfalls of information civilisation, threats to democracy in a digital society and the European and Asian visions of information civilisation”, reports the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The conference “Impacts and threats of information civilisation” will begin with a session commemorating the figure of Professor Jerzy Kleer, who was a member of the Prognosis Committee “Poland 2000 Plus” of the Polish Academy of Sciences for almost 30 years and its vice-chairman for many years.
