The role of scientists in times of pop culture and the issue of ethics in science communication will be the subject of the conference “Science, ethics, media” organised by the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN). It will be held on 2-3 December 2022 at the Staszic Palace in Warsaw.

New information technologies allow information and views to be disseminated to an increasingly wide public. They also facilitate the use of science for partisan gain or political purposes by disseminating unverified or intentionally distorted information.

The four sessions of the conference will be devoted to the role of scientific experts in the media, the ethical competences of scientists and journalists necessary to popularise scientific knowledge, and the reliability of the communication of scientific information in the context of the worldview or political involvement of researchers and media workers.
