Warsaw University of Technology (PW) was among the winners of the latest program of support for PhD students Microsoft Research PhD in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa). Thanks to this, one PhD student of PW will participate in the joint research project of the Warsaw University of Technology and Microsoft Research Cambridge.
The Microsoft Research PhD program was launched in 2004. So far, it has helped over 200 PhD students from nearly 20 countries and 51 institutions. This year, Warsaw University of Technology joined this group.
The Microsoft Committee selected 16 applications selected for financing (including projects from Cambridge or Oxford) The Polish project was a research entitled “Low Shot Realistic Human Rendering from Partial Information.”
The author of the application and project supervisor Dr Eng. Tomasz Trzciński from the Department of Computer Graphics of the WUT Institute of Computer Science explains, that the project’s goal is “to facilitate the formation of avatars using two methods: Partial Information (Low Information) and Low-shot learning”.
