Dr Gniewko Więckiewicz from the Department of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze of the Silesian Medical University has been awarded a fellowship prize by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA). One of the aims of the fellowship is to expand cooperation between researchers working in the field of mental health.
The fellowship provides the opportunity to participate in the twenty-third WPA conference in Vienna in September, during which Dr Więckiewicz will give a lecture on PolDrugs, an original project aimed at presenting basic epidemiological data on the use of psychoactive substances in the Republic of Poland.
In addition, there will be activities for international scholarship recipients, such as meetings with other scholarship winners and WPA President Prof. Afzal Javed and Prof Norman Sartorius, former director of the World Health Organisation’s Department of Mental Health.
