World scientists write a letter before the climate summit

02.11.2021

38 representatives of world scientific institutions signed a letter to support the participants of the COP26 climate summit in achieving the conference goals, including the commitment to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and to limit the global warming process to 1.5 ° C. One of the signatories of the letter is the president of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Jerzy Duszyński.

The UN Conference on Climate Change COP26 is a meeting of states-parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It will take place from October 31 to November 12 in Glasgow.

Representatives of world science prepared a position on science and innovation for climate action.

The signatories of the letter are calling on researchers, policy makers and political leaders to work with communities for three goals: developing ambitious, evidence-based long-term strategies to define efforts to limit climate change to 1.5 ° C; increasing international cooperation to accelerate research, development and implementation of effective solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation; establishing programs that strengthen global research and innovation capacity.
