On 3 February 2023, the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin will hold a celebration of World Wetlands Day. This year’s 6th annual event will consist of two parts: a popular science part and a scientific session. The slogan of this year’s event is “It’s time to restore wetlands”.
The popular science part, which includes lectures, workshops, competitions and exhibitions, is aimed primarily at secondary school students and all people interested in the subject of wetlands.
The programme for the popular science part of the event includes three lectures, 13 thematic workshops, exhibitions of paintings and photographs, and competitions. The scientific part, on the other hand, will include discussions among specialists – scientists and practitioners – about current and completed projects, as well as the natural values of wetlands, species and habitat protection, cross-border cooperation or the impact of climate change on the behaviour of avifauna.
