World’s first lyophilizer for food developed in Gliwice

Start-up FrostX – a company from the Gliwice Technological Accelerator, operating at Technopark Gliwice co-created by scientists from the Silesian University of Technology developed the world’s first lyophilizer.

The lyophilizer developed by FrostX will be used primarily by small producers and food processors – gardeners, fruit farmers, restaurateurs, hoteliers, etc. Next year, work on a smaller version of the device intended for home use will be completed.

Lyophilisation is a purely physical process in which no chemical additives are used. Thanks to it, people can naturally process food with the preservation of all nutrients and vitamins. Products, created in this way have unchanged structure and color (they are not wrinkled as traditionally dried) and maintain their usefulness for consumption for even 25 years.
