Wrocław students developing a method of faster wound healing

07.08.2020

Young scientists from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław within a joint research project are checking whether specific organic compounds can accelerate the healing of chronic wounds.

– We want to find out how selected polyphenols can support the wound healing process. Our research will be conducted in vitro on isolated, specific cell lines. We will check how specific bioflavonoids and their mixtures can affect on the ability to proliferate cells, i.e. their multiplication – says Eng. Kacper Jagiełło from the Gambrinus Science Club of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

The research will be carried out using the Balb3t3 and L929W mouse fibroblast cell lines. If the results are satisfactory, young scientists will continue research on living organisms. In the future, they will also try to develop a special dressing with the use of tested substances.
