The University of Life Sciences in Wrocław is implementing the FARMWISE project funded by the European Union. A total of 20 entities from 12 countries are participating. The aim of the project is to develop methods that will influence the accumulation of water resources in small agricultural catchments.
The importance of this project is explained simply by its participants – in an era of continuous population growth and with it an increasing demand for food, water and energy, agricultural production faces a challenge on which the safety of future generations depends.
The project uses sensors and sensors that monitor not only the amount of water that is in the soil environment, but also its quality. The tools created are intended to help farmers adapt to climate change and ensure optimal crop planning adapted to the water, soil and climate conditions in the area.
