Wrocław University of Science and Technology graduate becomes the world champion in public speaking

Cyril Junior Dim, a graduate of the Computer Studies Department at the Faculty of Computer Science and Telecommunications at Wrocław University of Science and Technology won the world championship in public speaking organised by the ToastMasters organisation. The competition was held in Nashville, USA. 

ToastMasters is a world leader in the training of public speaking and leadership skills. It operates in 145 countries worldwide and has around 350,000 members. It has been organising the World Championship of Public Speaking since 1939. The preliminaries for the World Championship of Public Speaking start at the local level, in Toastmasters clubs around the world. 30,000 people take part in them.  

In his speech ‘Ndini’, which means ‘It’s me’ in the Shona language, the Zimbabwean graduate told a personal story about the search for his identity and how long it took him to come to self-acceptance.
