Magdalena Kazulak and Konstancja Staniecka, students of the Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, won the national stage of the Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest 2023. They now face the final in Portugal.
The competition task was to develop a proposal for the revitalisation of a plot of land at the Boavista Landfill Site in Lisbon. It belongs to the city council and is used as the headquarters for municipal services, with a public and cultural purpose.
In their design, the competition winners focused on attracting users and leading them through the greenery – which is so lacking in cities – to culture, namely the Lisbon audiovisual centre.
They created a concept for a seven-storey building with units set at a slant to the building line. In addition to flats, they planned a workshop, a restaurant, a café and a gallery. A startup space and exhibition space would also be created throughout the premise.
