Wrocław University of Science and Technology took over from the city of Wrocław the responsibility for the functioning of the hub of the prestigious European organization Academia Europaea. The agreement was signed by the rector of the university, Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs, the Mayor of Wrocław Jacek Sutryk and the presidents of the academy.
Europaea Academy, which is headquartered in London, has been existing since 1988. Its members include over 4,500 outstanding specialists in medicine, chemistry, physics, mathematics, economics, humanities and social sciences. This group includes 60 Nobel laureates.
The Academy is a prestigious European organization working to introduce the highest standards in science, research and education. It is divided into 23 sections in four subject groups – humanities, social and related sciences, exact and biological sciences. The Academy has its offices (Knowledge Hubs) in Munich, Barcelona, Cardiff, Bergen, Tbilisi, Budapest and Wrocław.
