Students from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology’s Project Scorpio team took second place at the Australian Rover Challenge competition. The Wrocław rover performed excellently in individual competitions, taking first and second place in each, the university reports.
The competition was held at the University of Adelaide. Eight teams competed, most of them from Australia. For four days, their rovers performed tasks simulating missions on the lunar surface.
‘We are very pleased with the outcome of both the entire competition and the individual competitions’, emphasise the students. ‘We came to the Australian Rover Challenge for the first time, and for the other teams this competition was nothing new’, says Zofia Stypułkowska, President of Scorpio.
The students are already pointing out that upon their return to Poland they will carefully analyse the issues related to the minor malfunctions that occurred in Australia. Moreover, as they have another competition ahead of them – the most prestigious event held in the USA, the University Rover Challenge.
