Two new laboratories have been created in the department of basic problems of technology at the Wrocław University of Technology to conduct cancer cell research.
The Biopharmaceutical Laboratory in Nanoscale will run microscopic examination of tissues and biomaterials, research on cancer cells and changes of DNA under the influence of physical and pharmacochemical factors. The laboratory has been equipped with an atomic force microscope, which allows obtaining an image with a resolution of the order of the dimensions of a single atom and to test single DNA strands.
The Laboratory of Biomedical Measurement Techniques will allow for research related to the use of optical techniques for measuring various types of objects. In the laboratory the scientists will use a confocal microscope to determine cellular parameters by fluorescent methods in living and fixed cells.
