On 28-29 September 2023, the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin hosted the XXVII Interdisciplinary Landscape Seminar entitled ‘Landscape Variability. Transient and ephemeral landscapes’.

During the event, scientists and students from various Polish universities presented the results of landscape research, drawing attention to its variability and multifaceted nature. Topics covered during the conference ranged from landscape dynamics, through the influence of weather conditions on landscape perception, to event tourism or the phenomena of smellscape and soundscape.

The first day of the seminar was open to all interested listeners. On the following day, the organisers held a field session at the Czechowskie Hills, the UMCS Botanical Garden and the Lublin Village Museum.

The seminar was organised by the Institute of Social and Economic Geography and Spatial Management of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, the Cultural Landscape Commission of the Polish Geographical Society and the Polish Geographical Society Lublin Branch.
