09.07.2020

Four scientists from the University of Silesia were among the winners of Start scholarships awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science. 100 young researchers with proven track record in their fields of research will be awarded scholarships to help them at the beginning of their careers.

Winners of scholarships from the University of Silesia include: Andrzej Dzienia (chemistry), Dr Eng. Karolina Jurkiewicz (materials science), Dr Małgorzata Lubelska-Sazanów (law) and Oskar Jacek Rojewski (art history).

The Start program has been implemented since 1993. It was launched to support outstanding young scientists who are under 30 years of age (or above 30 in the cases described in the regulations) and to encourage them to further scientific development. The prize is awarded as a part of the competition. The main criterion for assessing the candidates is the quality and originality of their scientific achievements to date and their most important research achievement.
