The State Archive in Zamość, the Zamość Academy and the Zamość Academy Publishing House would like to invite everyone to participate in the 2nd All-Polish Scientific Conference in the Homo viator series titled The Dangers of Travel, which will be held on 20-21 October 2023 in Zamość.

Last year, the Zamość Academy started a series of conferences dedicated to one of the most important and oldest motifs of our culture. This year, conference participants will continue to follow the trail of historical, literary, philosophical, real, imaginary wanders, in the footsteps of people, places and meanings. This time, the problem of the danger of travelling will be the subject of reflection.

Danger has always been part of the journey. The mythical Odysseus, the archetype of the wanderer, struggled for years against the curse of the gods before finally returning home. In the pages of the Bible, the Chosen People, after their exodus from Egyptian slavery, under the leadership of Moses, made the long and difficult journey through the desert before reaching the Promised Land. Today’s reporters, especially war reporters, travel through different terrains, facing threats, the organisers write, introducing the theme of the conference.
