A state-of-the-art 5G laboratory under the auspices of Nokia has been launched at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian University of Technology. This is another place where 5G technology will be used. An ultrafast 5G campus network has already been in operation since September at the Industry 4.0 Technology Testing Centre.

“The opening of this laboratory is confirmation of the real cooperation between our university and the socio-economic environment. We want these state-of-the-art technologies, which are currently being developed in industry, to also be hosted at universities that prepare staff for the industry of the future”, says Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk, rector of the Silesian University of Technology.

In the laboratory, students will be able to learn practically what they will encounter in practice after graduation. It will be used primarily by students of electronics, data communications, and computer science dealing with networks, as well as all those who want to learn the secrets of 5G networks.
