Employees of the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture of the Lodz University of Technology: Dr Eng. Aneta Tomczak, Dr Eng. Robert Warsza and Eng. Andrzej Makowski, a PhD student – together with the team of the Municipal Urban Workshop in Łódź, received the Award of the Minister of Development of the Republic of Poland for outstanding creative achievements in the field of spatial planning and development.
The prize was awarded for the development and implementation of local spatial development plans that were made for the Water and Factory Ownership area – the cradle of 19th-century industrial Łódź. Due to the fact of undertaking planning works for the entire area, the adopted solutions were a systemic and pioneering nature. They are also the first, so detailed, contemporary planning study shaping the foundations for the preservation of cultural heritage and introducing spatial development principles.
The plans are to introduce original solutions strictly tailored to the specificity of the area, using the cultural and natural potential of the place.
