New possibilities of the laboratory of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin

20.07.2020

The Laboratory of High Frequency Antennas and Techniques of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin has acquired the most modern equipment for imaging non-conductive technical structures using electromagnetic waves.

The terahertz spectroscope will allow for the study of modern structures (artificial, human-designed and man-made metamaterials) and for spectroscopic measurements, i.e. detection of the presence of various materials in the tested sample. Scientists will be able to detect dangerous substances – e.g. drugs and explosives or microdamages, e.g. on the surface of airplanes wings, which may prevent air crashes.

The laboratory will be used for applied (meeting the needs of today’s industry) and basic scientific research in order to gain new knowledge about the foundations of phenomena and observable facts without any direct commercial application.
