Scientists of the Department of Environmental Technology of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk have developed devices that purify the air of pathogens in air conditioning systems, including SARS-CoV-2. The university has already granted a license to commercialize inventions.
The granted licenses will allow for the commercial use of inventions in the field of obtaining photocatalytic layers. The granting of the license will enable the commercialization of innovative, modern air purification technologies using the photocatalytic process. Inventions have been patented.
The NANOSCI company, which received the license, started the project in cooperation with Solaris – one of the European leaders in the production of buses and trolleybuses. The installation of air purifying devices in air conditioning systems will allow to remove pathogenic microorganisms from the air – both bacteria and viruses – and thus will increase the safety of mass transport.
