Michał Wróbel, a graduate of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the Lublin University of Technology, currently its PhD student and member of the MSAGroup research team, won the first prize in the competition “Innovations in road construction” organized by the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways. The jury appreciated his master’s thesis “The influence of modifiers obtained from ecological raw materials on the properties of bituminous binders”.
The aim of the competition is to select the best diploma theses, describing solutions that can be used in road construction. It is also about promoting the idea of entrepreneurship and innovation among the academic community.
The high implementation potential of the solution proposed by Eng. Michał Wróbel is indicated by his work supervisor, Dr Eng. Agnieszka Woszuk from the Department of Building Materials Engineering and Geoengineering of the Lublin University of Technology, who stated that the topic undertaken in the work fits well with the idea of sustainable development in construction. The obtained physical and mechanical properties of the designed mineral-asphalt mixture comply with the technical requirements and indicate the possibility of preventing premature degradation of the recycled pavement. Thanks to this, this solution has a great chance of being used in road construction – she added.
