Consortium consisting of: MGGP Aero (coordinating beneficiary), City of Wrocław (Department of Sustainable Development), University of Łódź (UNESCO Department of Ecohydrology and Applied Ecology), University of Warsaw (Faculty of Economic Sciences), Ingenieurgesellschaft Prof. Dr Sieker mbH (Germany), the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Earth Observation Department) and the National Foundation for Environmental Protection (Centrum UNEP / GRID Warsaw) have just obtained nearly EUR 5 million for the implementation of the innovative project “Using remote sensing to manage blue-green infrastructure (BZI ) of cities in the process of adaptation to climate change ”.
Based on research using remote sensing, the consortium will create a system to help over 10,000 European cities to fight the effects of climate change.
As a result of the project implementation, two innovative IT systems will be made available to city managers and residents, which will support the process of BZI reconstruction in cities in a complementary manner in order to reduce areas particularly exposed to climate change and to protect spontaneous urban green area.
