Vice-president of the Shibaura Institute of Technology in Tokyo (SIT) Prof. Akito Takasaki met with the rector of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Prof. Jerzy Lis to discuss the current research and teaching cooperation between SIT and AGH and outline its prospects in 2022-2024.

AGH and SIT have been cooperating with the Shibaura Institute of Technology since 2004. On the part of SIT, a cooperation agreement was signed by the then rector, Nobel laureate Leo Esaki. The exchange with SIT focuses not only on research related to energy and materials engineering, but also on student exchange and joint education of doctoral students (double diploma agreement).

In 2012, the Sandwich program was launched, enabling BA students to participate in mobility. The Spinaker program is also implemented for BA and MA students. The crowning achievement of the cooperation is the implementation of the Katamaran project and the creation of full-time joint MA studies in Energy & Environmental Engineering (E3).
