Two students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology will participate in the “Perseus” mission at the LunAres research facility – an analog base for research on manned space flights. Paula Drozdowska and Katarzyna Ignatowicz will spend two weeks on… the moon, in the company of four other astronauts from Poland, Mexico and India.
LunAres was built in Piła at the old military airport. It is a research facility operating for several years, simulating the conditions prevailing on Mars and the Moon, and above all, it enables regular missions (with a series of tests) for six crews of analog astronauts.
Project participants are isolated from the world for 14 days, they do not have access to sunlight, live and work together in a relatively small space. During this time, they conduct their own research, perform tasks related to the daily functioning of the base, and are often the subjects of psychological and sociological analyzes themselves.
