Vysoká škola báňská – Technická univerzita Ostrava, in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology, is implementing a project devoted to environmental education and increasing students’ knowledge of an innovative method of life cycle assessment, i.e. the impact of products on the environment.

The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA-Life Cycle Assessment) concerns how a given product, service or technological process affects the environment. The European Commission considered this method to be the most appropriate way to assess the potential environmental impact of products and created a European platform to support the implementation of LCA in business and national legislation.

“Life cycle assessment is a unique method that is used to assess the impact of products, services or technological processes on the environment on the basis of a summary of material and energy balances and environmental assessment in many impact categories throughout the life cycle – says Dr Eng. Dorothy Burchart.
