A researcher of the Medical University of Gdańsk becomes this year’s laureates of the Start program

Dr Eng. Marta Jaskulak from the Department of Immunobiology and Environmental Microbiology of the Medical University of Gdańsk was this year’s laureates of the Start program by the Foundation for Polish Science awarding outstanding young scientists. 

Dr Eng. Marta Jaskulak is a biologist and ecotoxicologist dealing mainly with the problems of water and soil contamination. Currently, she is implementing a project on transcriptomic and physiological changes in Brassica napus L. leaves during exposure to heavy metals and is starting work on the problem of the spread of antibiotic resistance as a result of long-term fertilization of agricultural land with sewage sludge.

The aim of the Start program is to support outstanding scientists who have not yet reached 30 years of age, conducting basic, applied or developmental research. The Foundation evaluates the achievements of the proposed scientists, their patents or publications, awarding the best scientists with annual scholarships.
