Academy of Physical Education in Poznań to launch an international research project Inclusion through sport

28.10.2021

Scientists from the Academy of Physical Education in Poznań will conduct research under the international project “Inclusion through sport for children with developmental disabilities”. The project is implemented in Poland, Romania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Lithuania and Iceland.

The aim of the project is to assess the strengths of the Special Olympics Unified Sports Program as a model for promoting the social inclusion of children with intellectual disabilities, and to document the facilities and barriers in the process of social integration.

As part of the project, the organizers will provide sports activities for children aged 6 to 12 with intellectual disabilities, who will exercise together with their peers without disabilities.

At the same time, they will organize educational forums for parents on the possibilities of children with intellectual disabilities. They will create opportunities for families to connect, share challenges and build a mutual support network.
