The Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, handed over a symbolic cheque for PLN 8 million to the Świetokrzyskie University of Technology in Kielce. This increases the amount of the subsidy, which will be used to finance a plasma laboratory for obtaining energy from alternative media, the creation of the CENTO Science and Implementation Centre for Defence Technologies and Security Systems, and the construction of laboratories for the newly created biomedical engineering specialisation.

The Świętokrzyskie University of Technology, in partnership with other universities, is involved in two projects funded by the ‘Polish Metrology’ programme. One of these is the project ‘Analysis of the possibilities of applying artificial intelligence in surface roughness measurements’, coordinated by the Poznan University of Technology and carried out in cooperation with the Krakow University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology. The amount of funding is close to PLN 1 million.

The aim of the project is to analyse the possibilities of implementing artificial intelligence, machine learning and neural network issues in surface roughness metrology for selected roughness and surface topography parameters, depending on the measurement technique used.
