AGH Space Systems wins 8th European Rover Challenge

The AGH Space Systems team from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow has become the winner in the stationary formula of the 8th European Rover Challenge, which was held at the Kielce University of Technology.

In the grand final, the team from AGH defeated 18 teams from all over the world, and the Kalman rover outclassed the competition with as much as 88 points ahead of the second-placed robot from the EPFL Xplore team from Switzerland in the final classification. Third place was taken by the ITU Rover Team from Turkey.

The European Rover Challenge is the largest space robotics competition in Europe. Nineteen of the world’s best academic teams in the desktop formula and 11 in the remote formula qualified for the competition. The rovers competed on a specially created artificial Martian track, the surface of which was inspired by a section of the Martian plains Utopia Planitia and Elysium Planitia. 

The remote formula was won by the DJS Antariksh team from India.
